Vietnam Animal Feed Market on July 14, 2026: Corn Prices Edge Higher While Soybean Meal and Rice Bran Show Mixed Movements

1. Vietnam animal feed market overview on July 14, 2026

Vietnam’s animal feed ingredient market showed mixed movements on July 14, 2026. Imported corn prices increased slightly for selected nearby delivery periods, while most other corn contracts remained unchanged.

Soybean meal declined by approximately VND 50 per kilogram across several contracts for 2026 and early 2027. However, the February 2027 contract increased sharply by VND 350 per kilogram at both Cai Lan and Vung Tau.

In the rice and by-product segment, dry and wet rice bran declined by VND 30–50 per kilogram. By contrast, IR 504 brown rice, low-grade brown rice, domestic wheat bran and DDGS at Cat Lai increased by VND 50–100 per kilogram.

2. Imported corn prices increase slightly for selected contracts

South American and South African corn at Cai Lan for July 2026 delivery remained unchanged at VND 6,950 per kilogram.

The August and September 2026 contracts at Cai Lan increased by VND 50 per kilogram to VND 7,100 per kilogram. October and November delivery remained at VND 7,150 per kilogram, while contracts from December 2026 to February 2027 stayed at VND 7,300 per kilogram.

At Vung Tau, South American and South African corn for July 2026 delivery remained at VND 6,900 per kilogram. August and September delivery increased by VND 50 to VND 7,050 per kilogram, while October and November contracts were unchanged at VND 7,100 per kilogram.

Pakistan corn at Cai Lan and Hai Phong for September 2026 delivery remained at VND 7,000 per kilogram.

3. Imported corn supplies remain high

Between July 1 and July 8, Vietnam’s corn imports were estimated at approximately 470,000 tonnes. Around 226,000 tonnes were delivered to northern ports and 244,000 tonnes to southern ports.

Imported corn originated from Argentina, Brazil, India, South Africa and the United States. South American and South African corn delivered to Vung Tau and Cai Lan was quoted at approximately USD 245–247 per tonne CFR, equivalent to around VND 6,700–6,760 per kilogram, excluding handling and related costs.

U.S. corn imports into Vietnam between July 1 and July 8 were estimated at approximately 66,800 tonnes. Additional U.S. and South American corn vessels are expected to arrive at Vung Tau and Cai Lan during July, helping maintain ample domestic supplies.

4. Vietnam’s corn and by-product exports

Vietnam’s corn exports between July 1 and July 8 were estimated at approximately 8,500 tonnes. The cargoes were mainly shipped by trading companies from southern ports and border gates to the Philippines.

The reference export price was approximately USD 332 per tonne CFR Philippines, equivalent to around VND 8,650 per kilogram.

During the same period, Vietnam’s official exports of vegetable oils and oilseed meals reached approximately 6,400 tonnes, mainly destined for Cambodia and Myanmar. Bulk cargoes at Vung Tau were quoted at around USD 421 per tonne FOB, equivalent to approximately VND 10,970 per kilogram.

5. Soybean meal prices vary significantly across contracts

At Cai Lan, South American soybean meal for July and August 2026 delivery remained at VND 10,950 per kilogram.

The September 2026 contract declined by VND 50 to VND 11,000 per kilogram. October and November contracts fell to VND 11,050 per kilogram, while December 2026 and January 2027 delivery declined to VND 11,200 per kilogram.

Notably, the February 2027 South American soybean meal contract at Cai Lan increased by VND 350 per kilogram to VND 11,600 per kilogram.

At Vung Tau, contracts from July 2026 to January 2027 declined by approximately VND 50 per kilogram and ranged from VND 10,900 to VND 11,100 per kilogram. The February 2027 contract increased by VND 350 to VND 11,500 per kilogram.

6. Soybean meal imports into Vietnam

Between July 1 and July 8, Vietnam imported nearly 79,000 tonnes of soybean meal, with most cargoes delivered to northern ports.

The main origins were Argentina, Brazil and India. South American bulk soybean meal delivered to Vung Tau and Cai Lan was quoted at around USD 398 per tonne CFR, equivalent to approximately VND 10,790 per kilogram, excluding handling and other related costs.

Supplies are expected to improve from mid-July as additional soybean meal vessels arrive at Vung Tau and Cai Lan. Positive harvest prospects in South America and the United States may continue to place downward pressure on soybean meal prices in the short term.

7. Dry and wet rice bran prices decline

Dry rice bran at Sa Dec, Dong Thap declined by VND 50 per kilogram to VND 8,000 per kilogram. Dry rice bran at Cai Be fell by VND 30 to VND 8,050 per kilogram.

At An Giang, dry rice bran dropped by VND 50 to VND 7,950 per kilogram. Prices at Can Tho, Long An and Tay Ninh remained at approximately VND 8,000 per kilogram.

Wet rice bran at Sa Dec fell by VND 50 to VND 7,700 per kilogram, while the An Giang price declined to VND 7,650 per kilogram.

New rice bran supplies are improving as the summer-autumn rice harvest enters its peak period. Meanwhile, purchasing demand from traders, oil-crushing facilities and animal feed manufacturers remains relatively weak, placing downward pressure on prices.

8. Brown rice and low-grade brown rice prices increase

In contrast to rice bran, IR 504 brown rice in the Mekong Delta increased by VND 100 per kilogram to VND 9,100 per kilogram.

Low-grade brown rice also increased by VND 100 to VND 8,300 per kilogram.

Grade 3–4 broken rice and grade 2 broken rice remained at VND 7,900 and VND 8,000 per kilogram, respectively. Grade 1 broken rice held at VND 8,050 per kilogram.

The raw rice market recorded no major changes. Supplies remained limited, while milling and export demand were still weak. However, several exporters started accepting slightly higher purchase prices to secure supplies.

9. Feed wheat, cassava chips and energy ingredients

Cassava chips sold from Son La warehouses remained at VND 5,600 per kilogram. Cassava root purchases in Tay Ninh were unchanged at approximately VND 5,800 per kilogram.

Feed wheat at Cai Lan for July 2026 delivery was quoted at VND 7,100 per kilogram. August and September contracts remained at VND 7,300 per kilogram.

At Vung Tau, feed wheat for July 2026 delivery stood at VND 7,150 per kilogram, while August and September contracts reached VND 7,250 per kilogram.

10. DDGS and corn gluten show mixed movements

U.S. corn DDGS at Hai Phong for July 2026 delivery was quoted at VND 7,400 per kilogram. August and September contracts stood at VND 7,500 per kilogram.

At Cat Lai, U.S. corn DDGS for July and August 2026 delivery increased by VND 50 per kilogram to VND 7,600 per kilogram.

Chinese corn gluten feed at Hai Phong remained at VND 5,200 per kilogram.

U.S. corn gluten meal at Hai Phong for November 2026 delivery declined by VND 50 to VND 18,450 per kilogram. At Cat Lai and Long An, the October 2026 contract remained at VND 18,400 per kilogram.

11. Palm kernel meal, rapeseed meal and animal proteins

High-fat Indonesian and Malaysian palm kernel meal at Hai Phong remained at VND 5,200 per kilogram, while the low-fat product held at VND 4,600 per kilogram.

Palm kernel meal at Long An for July and August 2026 delivery remained at VND 5,100 per kilogram. Bitter rapeseed meal at Hai Phong was quoted at VND 7,700 per kilogram, while Chinese sweet rapeseed meal for July and August delivery increased to VND 8,500 per kilogram.

In the animal protein segment, Vietnamese fishmeal with 60% protein delivered to a factory in Hung Yen remained at VND 58,000 per kilogram. Argentine meat and bone meal with 50% protein delivered to Hai Phong was quoted at VND 14,850 per kilogram.

12. USD and CNY exchange rates decline further

Vietcombank’s U.S. dollar selling rate on the morning of July 14, 2026, was recorded at VND 26,450 per USD, down VND 10.

The Chinese yuan selling rate declined by VND 4 to VND 3,935 per CNY.

Corn traded in Yunnan, China, remained at CNY 2,450 per tonne, equivalent to approximately VND 9,335 per kilogram.

Lower exchange rates may support import costs, although the actual impact will also depend on international commodity prices, freight costs and contract timing.

13. Market outlook

In the short term, imported corn prices in Vietnam may remain stable or increase slightly as international prices recover. However, the relatively large volume of vessels scheduled to arrive in July should limit the risk of supply shortages.

Soybean meal prices may continue to vary between nearby and distant contracts. New supplies from South America and crop prospects in the United States will remain important price drivers.

For rice and agricultural by-products, new bran supplies from the summer-autumn harvest may continue to pressure rice bran prices. Meanwhile, brown rice and selected by-products may remain firm if purchasing demand improves.
