Global Animal Feed Market on July 14, 2026: CBOT Corn and Soybean Prices Continue to Rise
CBOT corn and soybean prices continued to rise in the July 13 trading session due to hot and dry weather concerns in the U.S. Midwest and demand from China. Wheat and soybean meal declined, while soybean oil, palm oil and crude oil recorded strong gains.
Global animal feed market overview
The global animal feed ingredient market showed mixed movements in the July 13 trading session. CBOT corn and soybean futures increased, while wheat and soybean meal prices declined.
Vegetable oils and energy recorded the strongest gains. CBOT soybean oil rose by more than USD 48–52 per tonne, Bursa palm oil increased by USD 5.9 per tonne and WTI crude oil gained USD 6.7 per barrel.
Hot and dry weather in the United States, Chinese soybean demand and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East remained the main market drivers.
CBOT corn prices continue to rise
The September 2026 CBOT corn contract increased by USD 0.6 per tonne to USD 173.6 per tonne.
The December 2026 contract rose to USD 182.4 per tonne, while the March 2027 contract reached USD 188.3 per tonne.
Prices were supported by forecasts for hotter and drier weather across major U.S. producing regions.
Soybean prices supported by Chinese demand
The August 2026 soybean contract increased by USD 1.8 per tonne to USD 439.7 per tonne.
The September and November 2026 contracts rose to USD 435.5 and USD 438.9 per tonne, respectively.
The market was supported by weather concerns and additional Chinese demand for U.S. soybeans.
Wheat futures decline on profit-taking
CBOT wheat prices declined as investors took profits following strong gains in the previous trading session.
The September 2026 soft red winter wheat contract fell by USD 1.8 per tonne to USD 233.4 per tonne.
The December 2026 contract declined to USD 239.0 per tonne, while the March 2027 contract fell to USD 243.7 per tonne.
Soybean meal declines while soybean oil surges
The August 2026 soybean meal contract declined by USD 3.5 per tonne to USD 349.7 per tonne.
In contrast, soybean oil recorded strong gains. The August 2026 contract increased by USD 52 per tonne to USD 1,604.0 per tonne.
Higher crude oil prices and concerns over energy supplies supported vegetable oil markets.
Palm oil and crude oil move higher
The September 2026 Bursa palm oil contract increased by USD 5.9 per tonne to USD 1,114.3 per tonne.
WTI crude oil rose by USD 6.7 per barrel to USD 78.1 per barrel, supported by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Brazil’s second-corn harvest reaches 40%
Brazilian farmers had completed approximately 40% of the 2026 second-corn harvest, up 10 percentage points from the previous week.
Faster harvesting may increase export supplies in the coming period and create additional competition in the global corn market.
Freight indices show mixed movements
The Baltic Dry Index increased by 16 points to 2,960 points.
The Drewry World Container Index remained unchanged at USD 4,639 per 40-foot container.
High container freight rates remain a major cost risk for animal feed ingredient importers.
Market outlook
CBOT corn and soybean prices may remain supported if hot and dry weather continues across the United States.
Wheat prices are expected to remain volatile due to Black Sea shipping risks and Russian export developments.
Vegetable oil and crude oil markets will continue to react to geopolitical developments and potential disruptions to global energy supplies.
